  1. Take 1 kg chicken
  2. Make ready 1/2 cup oil
  3. Get 2 sliced onions
  4. Get 5 cloves
  5. Make ready 2 cinnamon sticks

  7. Take 3 green cardamom
  8. Get 1 black cardamom
  9. Prepare 1/2 tbsp white cumin seeds

  11. Prepare 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste

  13. Get Salt
  14. Get 1/2 tbsp red chilli powder
  15. Get 1 tbsp homemade qorma masala
  16. Take 1 cup yogurt
  17. Take 1 cup water
  18. Take 1 tsp kewra water

Korma or qorma is a dish originating in the Indian subcontinent, consisting of meat or vegetables braised with yogurt (dahi) or cream, water or stock. I did not grow up on chicken korma. Growing up in a traditional Indian home, chicken was served maybe a couple times a week.

Instructions to make Chicken qorma:
  1. Add 1/2 cup oil in a pan and turn the flame on. - Add 2 sliced onions and fry till golden brown colour. Take out onions in a separate dish.
  2. Add 1 kg chicken in the same oil and fry it well till light golden brown colour. - After frying chicken, add 5 cloves, 2 cinnamon sticks, 1/2 tsp whole black pepper, 3 green cardamom, 1 black cardamom, 1/2 tbsp white cumin seeds and 2 bay leaves(tez paat) and cook well.
  3. Add 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste and cook for 2 minutes.
  4. Add salt, green chillies, 1/2 tablespoon red chilli powder and 1 tbsp homemade qorma masala powder and stir it.
  5. Add brown onions and 1 cup yogurt in a blender and blend and pour into chicken. - Cook for 10 mins on low flame with covered lid.
  6. Add 1 cup water with 1 tsp kewra water and cook for 15 mins more on low flame with covered lid.
  7. Dish out and serve.
